Robbie Keane 11/10 To Score On Debut With Celtic

Sky Bet have reduced Celtic’s odds of winning the Scottish Premier League to 7/4 (from 2/1) following Robbie Keane’s loan move to the club.  Currently Rangers hold a 10 point lead at the top of the SPL and are attempting to retain their title.  Robbie Keane’s loan move to the club is hopped to bring goals and with that wins that Celtic need to close the gap on their closest rivals.

It is thought that the Republic of Ireland striker may make his debut tonight against Kilmarnock and is currently 9/2 to score the first goal which would be a dream start for the loaned striker who has missed regular action at Tottenham recently.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “Bets are pouring in at 9/2 for Keane to mark his Celtic debut by scoring the opener tonight at Rugby Park.”

Betfair – Betting On The Premier League

The best odds, thousands of markets and great liquidity – put simply, Betfair is the best place on the internet to do your football betting.

There are loads of football punters already on Betfair and this large community of punters is good news for you for two main reasons.

Firstly, competition among layers is so strong that they usually have to offer you a slightly better price than anyone else if they are to get their bet matched. Market forces therefore ensure the Betfair price is almost always bigger than those other bookmakers are offering. By the same token, there are plenty of people looking to back bets, which means you are always likely to find someone willing to take the opposite view to you.

The second is that because so many people are on Betfair, there’s a lot of money waiting to be matched, especially on the more popular markets. High-street bookmakers very often limit the amount of money you can have on any given bet to a few hundred pounds, but on Betfair you can generally wager a few thousand on any big match odds or over/under 2.5 goals market, not to mention any winner market amongst the major leagues.

And if you’re happy to take a price that’s a couple of ticks shorter as a backer (or longer as a layer) there is plenty more waiting to be matched. When big Premier League or Champions League matches come around it’s not unusual for there to be hundreds of thousands of pounds at a particular price on either side of the bet – if those are the sort of figures you like to deal in!

Betfair is also among the market leaders when it comes to offering in-play football markets. These are markets that you can bet on whilst a match is in progress and are available for every match played in the Premier League, Champions League and many more.

Though Betfair is not widely known for betting on ‘specials’, these are also available from time to time. Specials markets that always attract a lot of attention are Premier League “Next Manager” markets, so much so that newspapers and websites often quote Betfair prices as the most reliable source of assessing a candidate’s chances of ultimately landing the job.

This book is solely concerned with betting on Premier League markets. If you’ve never placed a bet on Betfair before you’d be advised to read “Betfair for Dummies” for a thorough explanation of how it all works, from depositing money into your account, to the difference between backing and laying and how to ensure you win on a market whatever the outcome, also known as a “green book”.

The 2009/10 season promises to be a cracker on the pitch and should, as ever, make for exciting betting prospects on Betfair. Whether you prefer to stake your money on season-long bets such as the Premier League winner market or prefer to get involved on a match-by-match basis, this guide should hopefully point you in the right direction so you’re fully prepared when all the action kicks off on the 15th August.

Premier League 2009 Preview

Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United are the hot favourites in the Premier League winner odds for online betting punters with Sky Bet at 6/4 to retain their Championship crown.

But with Portuguese star Christiano Ronaldo off to Real Madrid and the Old Trafford outfit on the cusp of change with the injury-hit Michael Owen United’s biggest name summer signing so far, the possibly more settled Liverpool could be a good tip to steal the title at 11/4 while Chelsea are also well placed to mount a serious challenge at 9/4.

Arsenal complete the big four betting at 9/1 while big spending Manchester City are at 25/1 to take the silverware away from their neighbours.

But it is outside the challenge for the title that online betting fans can chance a punt at Sky Bet – and the three promoted sides hot in the relegation odds to crash back down into the Championship.

If you fancy a flutter on Aston Villa or Spurs slipping up and facing the drop, Sky Bet have both clubs at 66/1 to go down. After Newcastle and Middlesbrough’s slide last season, at least one of the established clubs could be facing the same nightmare scenario. And it is Bolton who looks the most vulnerable at 6/1 to be relegated.

Manchester City’s Mark Hughes is a good bet be the first manager to be sacked next season and if his big-money signings can’t meet the expectations of the owners, he could well face the chop while Gary Megson will also be hoping that Bolton can get off to a decent start or he could face collecting his P45.

International Friendlies Refund Offers 20th August 2008

There are a number of offers available for the various friendly matches being held on Wednesday 20th August 2008.

The pick of the bunch are detailed below along with the methods to participate in each offer to maximise the refund potential (the profit) and minimise the risk involved (the loss) by refund betting.

First up is Boylesports with the following offers (applies to single bets only, 90 minutes only and max refund is 300 Euro or equivalent):

Norway v Republic of Ireland – If Norway win from behind we will refund losing first/last/anytime goalscorer and correct score bets on this match.

England v Czech Republic – If England win from behind we will refund losing first/last/anytime goalscorer and correct score bets on this match.

Method: Find bets with odds that match as close as possible between Boylesports and one of the betting exchanges on either the first/last/anytime or correct score markets, trying to pick bets that will lose should the team come from behind to win.  For example if England win from behind then any bet where England lose or draw i.e. 0-1 or 1-1 will be losing bets and qualify for the refund.

Next up is VC Bet with the following offer (maximum refund £100 per person):

England v Czech Repubic, Scotland v Northern Ireland, Georgia v Wales, Norway v Republic of Ireland & Finland v Israel

Place a first goal scorer bet and if your player fails to score the first goal but scores at any other time in the match VC Bet will refund your stake as a free bet on any future match.

Method: Back and lay a selection with close odds to qualify for minimal loss and should the selected player score during the game but not first then a refund will be given as a free bet on a future match.  This can then be turned into profit by backing and laying a selection using the free bet. Try to find close matches on players that are likely to score as if a less favourite player scores first then the chances of a refund are higher as the favourites will have more chance of scoring the next goal.

Finally BGBet are running the following offer on the international matches (maximum stake £50):

Place a bet on the first goalscorer for any of the following games and if the player listed below scores at anytime, BGBet will refund all losing first goalscorer stakes on that match

England v Czech Republic – Emile Heskey
Norway v Republic of Ireland – Kevin Doyle
Wales v Georgia – Jason Koumas
Scotland v Northern Irleand – David Healy

AND

If England v Czech Republic finishes in a 0-0 draw BGBet will refund all losing correct score bets on that game.

Method: As above back and lay a first goalscorer other than the players stated and should any of the players stated score then a refund will be given on losing bets.

The second offer as above requires a back and lay at close odds on the correct score market on any result other than 0-0 to qualify for the refund on offer from BGBet.

Any questions on the above offers or the process of refund betting then please feel free to email or post a comment at the bottom of the offer posts.

Boylesports Brann v Everton Refund Offer (With Profit Lock In)

Boylesports offer for Wednesday nights game between Brann and Everton is as follows:

All Brann – If Brann Are Leading At Half Time & Full Time In This Game, Boylesports Will Refund ALL Losing Single Bets On This Match. Applies To Internet Bets Only.

The great thing about this refund offer is that a profit can be made from it regardless of the result as follows:

Download the refund profit lock in calculator.

Back Everton to win the match.  Currently Everton can be backed at Boylesports 1.80 (decimal odds) and layed at Betfair for 1.78 (decimal odds). £200 on this bet and then layed will result in a loss of £2.31.  This will qualify you for the refund offer as if the offer occurs (Brann win at half time and full time) then the Everton bet will be a losing one.

The next step is to lay Brann/Brann on the Half Time / Full Time market at Betfair in order to lock in some profit.  Laying the result will mean that should Brann not win at half time and full time you will make some money however should they win at half time and full time then your lay be will be covered by the refund offer from Boylesports.

The refund profit lock in calculator will calculate the lay stake required on the Half Time /Full Time market for you to give the same profit regardless of the match result.

Given the odd will be around 9.00 (decimal odds) this should give you a profit of around £20 regardless of the result, not bad for initial few hundred pound outlay for one night!

Plug the figures into the calculator and see what profit you can achieve depending on your stake (Maximum allowed 300 Euro / around £220)
